February is Kindness Month at Ali‘iolani

The Great Kindness Challenge

All kids deserve to learn in a safe, supportive and caring environment. The Great Kindness Challenge provides a powerful tool that actively engages students, teachers, administrators, families, and communities in creating a culture of compassion, acceptance, unity, and respect. Starting Friday, February 1st, Ali‘iolani Elementary will be participating in the Great Kindness Challenge for the entire month of February! Students and staff are encouraged to do at least one act of kindness a day for the entire month, including weekends and holidays. Students will be given a paper with various acts of kindness. When they do one of the acts of kindness, they will cut it out and paste it on the provided calendar. When students complete the calendar and return it on March 1st, they will get a small prize, sponsored by our Student Council. Let’s show the world that KINDNESS MATTERS!

WASC Accreditation

It is with great honor to announce that Ali‘iolani Elementary School has been given a Six Year Accreditation Status through June 30, 2024. This accreditation status is based on our self- study report and the satisfactory completion of the on site accreditation visit. We appreciate all of the hard work by all of our staff and the dedication of our staff in seeing this process through to the end. For us the journey to excellence is not over and we will continue to make progress and provide excellent services for our students, parents, and community.

Drone Fly-Over

We were lucky to have been introduced to John Johnson through our Friends of Ali‘iolani (FOA) President Mr. and Mrs. Chong.

John was able to film our school from 400 feet with his drone and captured some amazing photos that allow us to see our school's physical space in a different light. He also was able to get all students and staff in a big "A" with Diamond Head and the Honolulu cityscape in the background.

We are so thankful to John for donating his time and energy and making our school a true work of art for all to see. If you would like to see more of John's work please visit his website at /onebreathphoto.com.
